Our honeymoon adventure continues in Santorini Greece!! Ahhh Santorini!! Santorini is just one of those places that says “honeymoon”!! The blue water, the white buildings, the amazing sunsets, the wineries, and the beaches all come together to create the perfect honeymoon destination.
What to do in Santorini??
On your first full day in Santorini, I recommend waking up early and hiking from Imerovigli to Oia. The views along the trail are absolutely breathtaking!! It’s hard to say how long it took us to hike, maybe 3 hours?? We were in such awe of the amazing views that we completely lost track of time. It’s not a difficult hike but I would suggest wearing comfy shoes and bringing plenty of water. Also I definitely recommend hiking in the morning since it gets pretty hot in the afternoon.

Once you arrive in Oia, find a local restaurant to enjoy some lunch while you rest your feet for a bit. We read great reviews about the mousaka at Flora Cafe and it definitely lived up to the hype!

After lunch, spend the rest of your day walking around Oia enjoying the views and shopping at some of the local shops. I loved shopping in Oia!! I got some handmade jewelry and some cute leather sandals custom made for my feet!! Honestly, I felt like the prices were great!!

Once you’re done in Oia, you can either walk back to Imerovigli or take the bus. It was really hot by the end of the day, so we decided to take the bus back to our hotel. I will warn you, the bus gets super crowded! Luckily it doesn’t take long to get back to Imerovigli and it’s cheap!
I recommend spending the rest of your day relaxing by the hotel pool! After spending all that money on a nice hotel, be sure to use those amenities!! Also, I love dipping into the pool after a long day outside.

Throughout the day, try to keep an eye on the time and make a plan to enjoy the sunset each evening in Santorini. You can reserve seats at a local winery, book a sailing catamaran sunset cruise, or plan to enjoy the view from your hotel patio. We had a private patio at our hotel, where we decided to enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine each evening. It was the perfect way to unwind at the end of the day.

On your second day in Santorini, I recommend booking a morning photo shoot with Eva Rendl (for info click here). We’ve never booked a photographer while on vacation, but this was the best idea ever!! We got some amazing photos from our session with her and we were able to truly enjoy our trip!! I didn’t stress about getting cute photos because I knew our photographer got plenty for us. We just did an hour photo-shoot with her, which was plenty of time for us. I think 2 hours would’ve been too long. If you do book a photo-shoot in Santorini, be sure to bring some cute sunglasses. The buildings will reflect the sun and it’ll be hard to keep your eyes open, sunglasses help hide all of the squinting eyes.

After your photo-shoot, pick up a rental car in Fira. Fira is actually a really neat town and I wish we would’ve spent more time walking around the area. We only stayed in Fira for an hour because we had plans to check out the rest of the island.
Once you have your rental car, drive to Perissa Black Sand Beach. Yes, it has black sand and it’s super hot!! Bring good shoes so you don’t burn the bottoms of your feet. After a few hours at the beach, hop back in your car and head over to Theros Wave Bar for a late lunch. Spend the rest of your afternoon enjoying the beaches in this area and then head to Santos Winery. The winery has some gorgeous views of the caldera. If you’d like to watch the sunset from the winery, then you’ll need to book reservations in advance.

Where to stay in Santorini?
We decided to stay in Imerovigli because it’s known for being the most relaxing and quietest town in Santorini. It’s also known for having the best sunsets in Santorini. I’m super happy with our decision to stay in Imerovigli, it was perfect! Very quiet and relaxing!

We stayed at Prekas Apartments in Imerovigli and we loved it!! It wasn’t anything super fancy but the view was amazing!! Definitely recommend staying here!! Great service, amazing views, clean room, and all for a decent price!!

How long should you stay in Santorini??
We stayed for 3 nights in Santorini, which was really just 2 full days. I wish we would’ve stayed here for 3 or 4 full days though, it’s just sssoo relaxing!! We would’ve spent our mornings going on adventures around the island and our afternoons just laying by the pool. Now that’s my idea of a perfect vacation!!

How to get around Santorini??
If you want to see the whole island, then you’ll need to rent a car or an ATV. The roads are confusing in Santorini and you won’t always have cell service to use maps on your phone, so be prepared to make a few wrongs turns!! Also, it can be very hard to find parking at the end of the day. If you don’t plan to see the whole island, then you can set up a transfer to your hotel from the airport, walk, and take the bus to the different villages.
